Homeowners Can Find the Right Sitter Without the Comment Chaos
Finding a house sitter should not mean sorting through dozens of Facebook replies, private messages and screenshots while trying to remember who said what.
With HSA, you can create a listing, review applications, compare sitter profiles, chat privately and choose the person who best suits your home, pets and routines. Everything stays connected to the listing, so the conversation is easier to follow and the important details are not scattered across Facebook.
Your street address is never shown publicly. Listings display only your suburb, giving you privacy while still helping local and travelling sitters find sits that may suit them.

Sitters Can Find Sits That Suit the Way They Travel
Every house sit is different.
Some sitters are looking after a couple of indoor cats in a quiet suburb. Others are feeding horses, watering gardens, caring for older dogs, or spending a few weeks by the coast. Some travel full time and are open to opportunities anywhere in Australia. Others prefer local or regional sits close to home.
HSA lets you search for sits in plain English, build a proper sitter profile and apply with confidence. Before you arrive, you can use direct messaging, pet care information and a written agreement so both sides understand what has been arranged.
Joining, browsing listings and creating your profile are free. A financial membership is only needed when you are ready to apply for house sits.
Foundation financial memberships are currently $12 for the first year until 31/12/2026.
Trust Begins Before the Keys Change Hands
House sitting works because people trust each other.
A homeowner is inviting someone into their home and asking them to care for much-loved pets. A sitter is accepting responsibility for another person’s home, animals and daily routines. That trust should be supported by clear information, good communication and practical safeguards.
HSA includes verified profiles with ID, address and phone verification. Members can also choose to add optional trust signals, such as existing Police Checks or Working With Children Checks, where relevant.
Every sit can include a digital sit agreement and detailed pet care cards. These are not about making house sitting complicated. They simply help both sides agree on the important details before the homeowner leaves.

Hi, I’m Colin Dixon.
I spent eight years travelling Australia as a house sitter, living the same lifestyle many Australians enjoy today. Over that time I saw how generous, practical and community-minded house sitting can be. I also saw how often good opportunities were lost in busy Facebook threads, and how difficult it could be for homeowners and sitters to reconnect once a post disappeared.
House Sitting Australia grew from a simple idea: keep the friendly community we have built over many years, but give it the tools it deserves.
Today our Facebook community has grown to more than 135,000 members. HSA gives those connections a dedicated place to continue, with profiles, listings, messages, trust signals and agreements all in one place.
